Disney Cruise Line is to homeport its newest cruise ship in Singapore for at least five years from 2025.
The cruise line has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Singapore Tourism Board to collaborate on the homeporting arrangement. The ship will sail itineraries from Singapore year-round.
“This is a very exciting year for The Walt Disney Company — 2023 marks our 100th anniversary,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney parks, experiences and products. “As part of this, Disney Cruise Line is currently undergoing an ambitious expansion with new ships and new destinations around the world. We are incredibly excited to make Singapore the home port to our seventh-launched ship, which will sail from here year-round starting in 2025.”
The new ship will have capacity for around 6,000 guests and 2,300 crew members. It will also be among the first ships in the cruise industry to be fuelled by green methanol.

The new Disney cruise ship will be an attraction itself and is expected to boost the tourism sector in Singapore for many years to come.”
The newbuild was formerly known as Global Dream before its previous owner, Genting Hong Kong, filed for bankruptcy. It was then acquired by Disney Cruise Line, with construction to be completed at the MV Werften shipyard in Wismar, Germany, under the management of Meyer Werft. Two more vessels, which will be sister ships to Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy and Disney Wish, are also being constructed by the shipbuilder in Papenburg, Germany.
