Seabourn Cruise Line’s former senior vice president of global marketing and sales John Delaney has been appointed as president of Windstar Cruises.

Prior to starting his role at Seabourn in 2011, Delaney held a number of positions at Holland America Line, including vice president of revenue marketing, director of special projects at corporate audit services and manager of management advisory services. Before working for Carnival Corporation’s brands, he spent six years in various positions at The Walt Disney Company.

Delaney will officially start his new role on 19 July.

“We are very pleased to welcome John onboard. Cruise vacationers and our guests have every reason to expect a new era of exciting, wonderful and memorable vacation experiences on our yachts and in the ports Windstar visits,” said Andrew Todd, CEO of Xanterra Parks & Resorts, parent company of Windstar Cruises. “Windstar just welcomed back the renovated Star Pride, and since taking ownership of Windstar in 2011, we have invested more than US$40 million into our three sailing yachts and three motorized all-suite yachts, so this is an ideal time for John to join the company and contribute to its success.”

Windstar Cruises operates a six small luxury sail and all-suite yachts visiting 150 ports throughout Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, the Panama Canal, and sailing year-round in Tahiti and the South Pacific.

All ships in the fleet have recently undergone multi-million-dollar transformations. The all-suite yachts – Star Breeze, Star Legend and Star Pride – each accommodate 212 guests, while sailing yachts Wind Spirit and Wind Star sail with up to 148 guests, and Wind Surf serves 310 guests.
