Cruise & Ferry Interiors

THE HOME OF GLOBAL PASSENGER SHIP INTERIOR DESIGN

2022

Executive Editor: Jon Ingleton
Editor: Rebecca Gibson

The 2022 issue of Cruise & Ferry Interiors provides exclusive insights from stakeholders across the passenger ship interior design industry.

This issue features a cover created by Steen Friis Design to reflect the design studio’s mission to make passenger ship interiors more sustainable. In our cover story, Steen Friis Design’s Bente Medelbye Hansen joins OSK Group’s Anders Ørgård to discuss how life cycle analysis and calculating carbon emissions can help them to develop data-driven strategies and produce sustainable designs.

There is also a keynote outlining how small-ship operator Viking is making its first forays into expedition cruising, as well as river cruising in the USA. CFI also highlights the reasons behind the line’s success over the past 25 years.

Meanwhile, our features cover sustainable maritime interiors and impressive interior spaces onboard cruise ships and ferries debuting this year. In addition, Holland America Group’s My Nguyen and Royal Caribbean Group’s Aida Lora discuss the value of inter-organisation collaboration.

In our Interior Views section, nine cruise and ferry executives reflect on the design process for their newest ships, while our Design Perspectives section offers insights from executives on a multitude of key topics. We also ask Ambassador Cruise Line, Lindblad Expeditions and DFDS about their revitalisation projects.

Plus, we hear from design firms, outfitters, refurbishment companies and product developers about their latest endeavors.

Elsewhere, our CFI Curated section highlights the latest updates from across the passenger ship interiors industry, and our CFI Directory provides a comprehensive guide to some of the finest companies involved in the sector.

We close the issue with an exclusive Design Legend interview with SMC Design’s managing director Andy Yuill.
