Viking Ocean Cruises has ordered another two 47,800gt cruise ships from Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, extending its existing four-ship order.

Fincantieri has already delivered the first Viking ocean ship, which was christened Viking Star in Norway this May, and is due to complete Viking Sea and Viking Sky in spring 2016 and 2017 respectively. Technical and financial conditions are still being defined for the fourth ship.

The two latest newbuilds will join Viking’s fleet in mid-2018 and at the end of 2020, respectively. The contract will be finalised when the technical and financial conditions have been confirmed.

Like their four sister ships, the two 930-passenger newbuilds will have 465 all-veranda staterooms and feature interiors designed by UK-based SMC Design and Los Angeles-based Rottet Studio.
