Maritime advisory firm and classification society Lloyd’s Register is to host two webinars on 29 May 2024, both of which will outline how the cruise industry can reduce underwater radiated noise (URN) from its vessels to protect marine life. The first webinar will take place from 13:00 to 14:00 BST and the second will be held from 19:00 to 20:00 BST.

During the webinars, technical specialists from Lloyd’s Register will outline the International Maritime Organization’s newly revised guidelines for the reduction of underwater noise from commercial shipping and how they will impact cruise brands.

In addition, the experts will share recommendations on how cruise lines can manage their fleets in anticipation of potential mandatory requirements. For example, they will explain how cruise lines can develop a URN plan, select and implement reduction technologies, optimise the design of their vessels to reduce their ecological impact, and reduce harbour fees with noise-compliant vessels. Lloyd’s Register will also share case studies and best practices, before concluding with a live Q&A session.

Register to attend the ‘Managing Underwater Radiated Noise for the Cruise Industry’ webinars on the Lloyd’s Register website.
