Heineken Global Duty Free has expanded its draught beer training programme for cruise partners, opening it up for another 1,500 bartenders in 2025.
Launched in the European Union in 2023, the Heineken Passion & Quality Training programme equips bartenders with the knowledge and skills they need to deliver a high-quality customer experience when serving Heineken beverages on draught. The training sessions are led by draught masters from the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and take place in bars onboard cruise ships so crew are in a familiar working environment. More than 1,000 crew members have sucessfully completed the training since 2023.
In 2025, bartenders from Carnival Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruises, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises, Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises and Royal Caribbean International will participate in the programme.
“Quality is at the heart of Heineken wherever we operate, and crew engagement is fundamental to the success of our cruise business,” said Christian Klimpke, global account manager for cruises at Heineken Global Duty Free. “Our focus on quality extends beyond the beer to the people entrusted to fill the glass. The cruise training programme has been highly successful, and is very popular with bar teams who become valued Heineken ambassadors. The training helps busy onboard bars to better meet the expectations of guests, driving results for our cruise partners and Heineken, but also increasing guest satisfaction too.”
