Explora Journeys, the luxury lifestyle brand from MSC Group, has created ‘luxurious homes at sea’ for Explora I, which is the first of six ships in its fleet.

The Ocean Penthouses and Ocean Residences have been designed with natural light, colour and private spaces to reflect the brand’s European heritage and help guests achieve an ‘Ocean State of Mind’.

The four Ocean Penthouses onboard Explora I range from 43 to 68 square metres and feature floor-to-ceiling windows and terraces. Each one offers a private dining area for four people, a large seating area, walk-in wardrobes and a seated vanity area. Explora Journeys will also offer complimentary 24-hour guest service to those staying in these penthouses.

Meanwhile, the Ocean Residences range from 70 to 149 square metres and offer spaces with separate living, dining and sleeping areas. They also feature panoramic terraces and a private outdoor whirlpool, alongside a dining table and sun loungers. There are four unique types of residences to choose from including Cocoon, Cove, Serenity and Retreat Residences, each of which are designed to reflect the calming effects of the ocean. The Cocoon and Serenity spaces feature wrap-around terraces while Cocoon, Serenity and Retreat offer a separate bathtub and walk-in shower.

All Ocean Residences dedicate a team of Residence Hosts providing butler services 24 hours a day.

Explora Journeys has worked with luxury brands to create the onboard spaces including Molteni&C, which sourced high-end, Italian-produced furniture and Technogym for gym equipment.

The ship also features curated artwork in both the onboard living spaces and the public areas.

“Environmental respect and sustainability have been key in design choices, ensuring a balance between the tactile and visual experience of every material used,” said Jason Gelineau, head of product at Explora Journeys. “Eco-friendly details such as refillable bathroom amenities have also been weaved into the suite offering and where feasible, we are sourcing sustainable products including B Corp-certified items. We will also have a no single-use plastic policy onboard.”

Explora I will depart on its maiden voyage from Southampton, UK, on 17 July 2023
