Color Line has installed Telenor Maritime’s Unified Hosting Service (UHS) onboard its fleet of five ferries to help improve data management.

The data-hosting platform will allow Color Line to collect, monitor and transmit crew input data and sensor data from the onboard navigation and control systems. This will enable it to digitise tasks, such as creating operational checklists and collecting data for the regulatory monitoring, reporting and verification reports that monitor the fleet’s pollutant emissions data.

By implementing UHS, Color Line hopes to improve crew efficiency and communication whilst accessing higher quality data that will enable it to improve sustainability.

“The UHS is the chosen technology platform for digitalisation and innovation across our fleet,” said Are Paulsrud, chief technology officer at Color Line. “There is immense innovation in the fact that you can reuse the onboard data that is captured on the ship, for digitisation purposes in many different variations across the ship and other stakeholders on land and with partners. This capability is quite unique.”
