Software development company d-flo has launched TravelComms Disruption Intelligence, a new solution that enables cruise operators to identify risk earlier, respond faster and better protect the guest experience. AmaWaterways, HX Expeditions and Windstar Cruises are the first to adopt the solution.
Cruise operators have to navigate an increasingly complex range of issues, such as extreme weather, changing river conditions, geopolitical events, airspace closures, port restrictions and infrastructure failures. All these impact scheduled itineraries, guest experiences and back-office operations.
d-flo’s TravelComms Disruption Intelligence helps cruise operators to identify potential disruption earlier, understand its impact and respond quickly and confidently.
Integrating with reservation and other operational systems, Disruption Intelligence combines real-time insights with an operator’s own booking and itinerary data. The platform identifies relevant events and provides visibility of the itineraries, locations and guests that are – or could be – affected. Disruption Intelligence can also work alongside the TravelComms Platform to turn insights into personalised communications.
“In our conversations with cruise operators, one thing became very clear: they don’t need more information, they need to understand which information mattered to their operation and their guests,” said Colin Brimson, co-founder and CEO of d-flo. “That’s what we’ve built TravelComms Disruption Intelligence to do. By adding context to real-time intelligence, we’re helping teams see potential issues earlier, understand the impact faster and make more informed decisions about what happens next.”
For HX Expeditions, this means supporting complex expedition journeys to some of the world’s most remote and changeable environments.
“HX Expeditions looks forward to leveraging TravelComms Disruption Intelligence to further enhance the guest journey through greater visibility of events that may impact travel,” said Andrew Horswell, director of land operations at HX Expeditions. “By harnessing advanced technology, TravelComms Disruption Intelligence will strengthen our ability to make informed decisions quickly and deliver an even more proactive and seamless experience for our guests, crew, and corporate travellers throughout the expedition lifecycle.”
Jon Burrows, chief operating officer at AmaWaterways, saidd: “We’re excited to begin working with d-flo and explore the potential their platform brings to how we stay connected to everything happening in the destinations we sail through. We’re always looking for innovative solutions that enhance the experience for our team and guests, and we look forward to incorporating d-flo into our operations to create an even more seamless travel experience.”
Windstar Cruises is the third cruise line to adopt the new solution. “Windstar Cruises has partnered with d-flo to implement TravelComms Disruption Intelligence, giving us real-time visibility into travel disruptions worldwide and the ability to instantly notify affected guests and keeping travellers informed and supported when it matters most,” said Arthur Theodorou, vice president of IT at Windstar Cruises.
d-flo plans to continue evolving the new solution, with a roadmap for new modules, features and functionality already planned for the coming months.
The software developer continues to work directly with travel operators to use real-world insights to shape a pipeline of specialist modules and new features, extending the platform into new areas of disruption management and operational intelligence.
“Disruption isn’t standing still, and neither can the technology used to manage it,” said Brimson. “What we’re launching today provides an important foundation, but our ambition goes much further. We’re working closely with our clients to understand what they need next and evolving our Disruption Intelligence platform to provide the solutions to meet this. As travel continues to change, TravelComms Disruption Intelligence will continue to move with it.”
