Marine glass bonding technology specialist Brombach + Gess created two extendable glass-floor balconies for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ new Hanseatic nature, which embarked on her inaugural cruise 5 May and is set to enter regular service this summer.
Brombach + Gess was responsible for planning, constructing, manufacturing and installing the two balconies, one each on the port and starboard sides of the ship. The 10-metre-long balconies are two metres wide and have the capacity to accommodate 50 people. A hydraulic system enables crew to extend the baclonies for guest use during the cruise and retract them again if the waves become higher than 1.6 metres at 14 knots.
“Passengers are able to on the balcony and get the perfect view of the ocean beneath them, whales and dolphins, and the passing landscape,” said Christina Schanz, Marketing and Sales at Brombach + Gess. “We are proud to have been part of the project and we are looking forward to the delivery of the second ship Hanseatic inspiration.”
