Marine design consultancy Knud E. Hansen has developed a concept for a 328-foot river cruise vessel intended for sailing on rivers in the USA.
The ship would be capable of sailing for up to 14 days with a maximum of 220 passengers onboard. It would feature seven decks, divided into three main fire zones, with passenger embarkation arranged on both sides of the vessel on deck two or a telescopic gangway at the bow. A reception area is located on deck three, while the engine rooms, technical spaces and provision stores are arranged on deck one. Deck two features an area with large VIP staterooms and crew quarters, though an alternative option replaces the staterooms with a passenger car garage with capacity for approximately 20 vehicles.
Staterooms are arranged across decks two to six. Alongside the VIP staterooms on deck two, large balcony state rooms of 248 square feet each feature on decks three, four and five, while standard size staterooms of 182 square feet are included on decks four, five and six.
The wheelhouse, officers’ accommodation and ship’s office are located on deck five forward. Meanwhile, the public spaces on deck three include the main restaurant with adjoining galley, a library, hairdresser and a shop. Deck four feature a bar lounge offering a panorama view and access to the forward open observation deck. Finally, deck six includes an open sun deck featuring an outdoor buffet/bar area, along with a fitness centre that offers massage rooms, a sauna, and Jacuzzis.
The propulsion and manoeuvring system comprises of two stern azimuth electric units in separate compartments at the stern and one pump jet in a bow compartment. The machinery arrangement is a fuel-electric hybrid system, including four high speed diesel generator sets combined with a battery storage system, which will provide propulsion power and all electrical load requirements.
