Seabourn Cruise Line is to celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2018 by introducing a new ship, several onboard and onshore initiatives, and hosting multiple onboard events.

Founded in 1987, Seabourn was designed to provide guests with a personalised service in a ‘relaxed social atmosphere like the one people enjoyed at private clubs’. Its first 208-guest, all-suite ship, Seabourn Pride, launched in 1988, which was followed by several other vessels. In 2009, Seabourn launched the 458-guest Seabourn Odyssey, the first of its larger Odyssey-class vessels to provide more space, a large spa, various alternative dining and entertainment venues, open deck space, and more. Two additional sister ships, Seabourn Sojourn and Seabourn Quest, followed in 2010 and 2011, when Seabourn sold its original ships to enable a more consistent fleet profile. A fourth ship, Seabourn Encore, was launched in December 2016.

Continuing the 30th anniversary celebrations that started at New Year, the line will expand its fleet to five ships in spring with the debut of the new all-suite Seabourn Ovation, which has interiors created by hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany. Seabourn Ovation will embark on her 11-day inaugural cruise from Venice, Italy to Barcelona, Spain on 5 May, before sailing a series of seven-day Baltic and Scandinavian cruises between Copenhagen and Stockholm. The ship will also sail on longer 14-day voyages to the Norwegian fjords and British Isles.

Guests will also benefit from special anniversary surprises in suites, an exclusive Passion Pearls cocktail, events and dinners, and Seabourn-themed trivia matches. A 30th Anniversary Wine Package featuring a selection of wines and champagnes, and a collection of pearls and commemorative merchandise will also be available to purchase onboard.

This year, Seabourn will also continue to enhance its onboard and onshore offerings, introducing several new programmes and initiatives. Highlights will include two Wellness Cruises with Dr. Andrew Weil and a selection of land-based immersive Seabourn Journeys.

“Our 30th anniversary is a wonderful occasion to celebrate the reputation we’ve earned as the world’s finest ultra-luxury cruise line by providing guests with opportunities to experience the most intriguing destinations around the globe on the most desirable ships at sea,” said Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn. “As we continue to grow, those opportunities will grow as well. For now, though, we invite guests to sit back and soak up the ultra-luxury innovations we’ve pioneered and special touches we’ve created in celebration of our third decade at sea.”
