Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco is to christen Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ (RSSC) Seven Seas Explorer.

The line’s latest newbuild will be officially named during an evening gala event in Monte Carlo, Monaco on 13 July 2016.

“It’s fitting to have the world’s most luxurious ship, Seven Seas Explorer, christened in one of the most glamorous cities in the world by H.S.H Princess Charlene of Monaco who is the definition of elegance, grace and passion,” said Jason Montague, president and COO of RSSC. “Her Highness’ stature, her career as a world-class athlete and the charitable endeavours she pursues through the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation are inspiring. We are extremely proud and humbled that she agreed to serve as godmother for Seven Seas Explorer.”

Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will take the stage for a 40-minute performance during the christening event.

“It’s such an honour to have Andrea Bocelli – a musical maestro with such an iconic and endearing voice – perform at the christening ceremony,” said Montague. “We are making the christening ceremony for Seven Seas Explorer one for the ages, one that is truly befitting of the most luxurious ship ever built.”

The 56,000gt, all-suite Seven Seas Explorer will accommodate 750 guests and features lounges, gourmet restaurants, a theatre and the 3,875sqft Regent Suite, with the first in-suite spa retreat at sea. The ship will embark on her maiden voyage on 20 July 2016 and she will spend an inaugural season in Europe before heading to Miami for a series of Caribbean voyages.
