River and coastal vessel operator American Cruise Lines has started construction of an ocean-capable cruise ship, which is set for delivery in the first quarter of 2017.

Under construction at Chesapeake Shipbuilding of Salisbury in Maryland, US, the new 170-guest ship will have full active wing stabilisation and advanced eco-friendly systems for wastewater treatment and emissions. The vessel also features state-of-the-art communication, safety and HVAC technologies.

Guests will benefit from staterooms spanning more than 350sqft with private balconies, in-room butler service, an expansive dining room and more. They will also be able to use the vessel’s Zodiacs and kayaks during excursions.

Chesapeake Shipbuilding is already 11 weeks ahead of schedule.
