Windstar Cruises’ new all-suite yacht, Star Seeker, will be christened by godmother and Denver-based musician Libby Anschutz, daughter of Windstar’s owner Phil Anschutz. The naming ceremony will take place in Miami, Florida, on 15 January 2026.

“Seeing Star Seeker for the first time was an unforgettable experience – the design, warmth and attention to detail all felt distinctly Windstar,” said Anschutz. “I’m honoured to serve as godmother and look forward to celebrating this incredible new chapter with the team and our guests in January.”

In her role as godmother, Anschutz will bestow blessings of good fortune, protection and smooth sailing to Star Seeker during the ceremony. In keeping with maritime tradition, Anschutz will also perform the ceremonial breaking of a champagne bottle against the yacht’s hull to formally christen and bless the ship before it sets sail on a seven-night christening cruise.

“Having the Anschutz family so deeply engrained in the debut of Star Seeker is an extraordinary honour and a deeply personal milestone for all of us at Windstar,” said Christopher Prelog, president of Windstar Cruises. “Libby's role as godmother brings heart, creativity and a genuine connection to what we do, and her blessing of our newest yacht makes this new chapter even more meaningful.”

Phil Anschutz’s daughter, Sarah Anschutz, has been named as godmother of Star Seeker’s sister yacht Star Explorer, which is currently under construction and is expected to make its debut in December 2026 in the Mediterranean. The ship’s christening ceremony is scheduled to take place in London, UK, on 31 May 2027.
