As the cruise and ferry sector continues to expand, operators are placing increasing emphasis on reliability, efficiency and seamless service across their onboard food and beverage operations. Against this backdrop, Welbilt Marine is seeing growing demand from leading brands across the industry, drawn not only by its extensive portfolio of marine-ready galley and front-of-house solutions, but also by the assurance that comes from its global service and support capabilities.

With numerous new vessels due to enter service in 2026, Welbilt Marine is reinforcing its role as a preferred supplier to many of the world’s best-known cruise companies. From initial design consultation through to installation, commissioning and ongoing support, the company’s ability to act as a single-source partner is proving a decisive advantage.

Supporting newbuild momentum

The steady delivery of new cruise ships has brought with it significant demand for robust, high-performance equipment capable of operating reliably in demanding marine environments. Welbilt Marine’s brands, including Convotherm, Merrychef, Garland, Carpigiani, Scotsman Ice, Mixologiq, WeGrill and others, continue to feature prominently onboard a wide range of vessels entering service, as well as those currently under construction.

A recent highlight has been the launch of a newly delivered cruise ship featuring a fully connected galley ecosystem, where combi ovens are integrated via Welbilt’s KitchenConnect platform. This level of connectivity allows operators to monitor performance, optimise workflows and ensure consistent food quality across multiple galleys – an increasingly important capability for large, multi-outlet vessels.

In addition to technology, Welbilt Marine continues to support customers during commissioning with hands-on expertise, including onboard chef training and menu development. This combination of proven marine equipment, digital capability and human support is key to ensuring smooth operational start-ups and long-term customer satisfaction.

Shaping the future

One of the most notable trends emerging in 2026 is the growing focus on smarter, more efficient galley design. Through its FitKitchen service and KitchenConnect platform, Welbilt Marine is increasingly working in partnership with cruise operators and consultants to rethink traditional galley layouts.

The objective is clear: to improve productivity, reduce food waste, optimise labour and make better use of available space. With equipment becoming more automated, connected and intuitive, operators are now exploring how digitalisation and design can transform the way onboard kitchens operate.

Several major cruise operators are actively engaging with Welbilt Marine on next-generation galley concepts, signalling a shift towards more data-driven and sustainable onboard food production.

Innovation driving onboard experience

Alongside system-level developments, individual product innovations are also gaining traction across the sector in 2026.

The Convotherm Mini Pro, for example, is attracting strong interest, particularly for space-constrained environments such as boutique cruise ships, yachts and ferry operations. Its compact footprint, combined with fully integrated cleaning cartridge technology, delivers both operational flexibility and valuable space savings. Similarly, the ongoing rollout of high-speed cooking solutions continues to support grab-and-go and casual dining formats, especially relevant in ferry operations where quick service is essential.

In the beverage segment, mixology automation is emerging as a standout trend. With hundreds of programmable recipes, rapid return on investment and consistent drink quality, Mixologiq’s automated cocktail system is being rolled out across fleets. Mixologiq’s solutions not only enhance the passenger experience but also help operators manage labour efficiency in busy bar environments.

Elsewhere, demand for premium ice and frozen dessert solutions is increasing, with new machines capable of producing larger-format ice cubes and high-quality gelato and soft serve products. These offerings align with the industry’s continued focus on elevating onboard food and beverage experiences.

New themed dining concepts are also driving innovation. Recent developments from WeGrill such as high-performance grill systems for speciality restaurants – capable of reaching extremely high temperatures within minutes – are set to become a feature of upcoming vessel launches in late 2026.

Performance in extreme environments

Beyond cruise ships themselves, the expansion of private island destinations is creating new operational challenges for foodservice equipment. These environments, often characterised by high heat, humidity and continuous usage, require particularly robust solutions.

Welbilt Marine’s experience in delivering durable, marine-grade equipment is proving critical in these settings, where reliability directly impacts passenger satisfaction. The company’s ability to support customers across shipboard and shoreside hospitality environments further strengthens its position as a comprehensive partner.

Delivering peace of mind

While product breadth and innovation are key factors, it is Welbilt Marine’s service and support network that continues to underpin its reputation with operators. From global installation teams to ongoing maintenance, spare parts availability and technical assistance, customers benefit from end-to-end lifecycle support.

This is particularly important in the marine sector, where downtime is not an option and equipment must perform consistently under pressure. By combining a wide portfolio with dependable aftersales support, Welbilt Marine offers operators peace of mind when investing in onboard foodservice infrastructure.

Looking ahead

Welbilt Marine will continue to engage with the cruise and ferry community throughout the remainder of 2026 and into 2027, with a strong presence at key industry events. The company is set to exhibit at SMM Hamburg in Germany in September 2026; Cruise Ship Interiors Europe in Hamburg in December 2026; Marine Hotel Association (MHA) Conference in March 2027 (location to be announced); and Seatrade Cruise Global in Florida, USA, in April 2027. These events will provide further opportunities to showcase new product developments, including upcoming launches and the latest advancements in connected galley solutions.

As the cruise and ferry markets continue to evolve, operators are seeking partners who can deliver not only high-quality equipment, but also long-term reliability, innovation and operational support. With its comprehensive portfolio, growing focus on connectivity and design and strong customer relationships, Welbilt Marine is well positioned to remain a supplier of choice across the global maritime hospitality sector.
