Virgin Group-owned cruise line Virgin Voyages is officially open for business after opening bookings on its first ship Scarlet Lady. The vessel will set sail from Port Miami for her 2020 inaugural season and offer four and five-night voyages to Havana, Cuba; Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; and Costa Maya, Mexico.

Virgin Voyages has also revealed more details about the ship, including The Beach Club at Bimini and new entertainment concepts.

Onboard the boutique-style mid-sized ship Scarlet Lady guests will be able to take advantage of over 20 eateries and fitness classes, as well as a vast range of entertainment opportunities, for example in The Red Room. The set-up can be transformed into a traditional Proscenium stage, an alley stage used in fashion shows, a dance flat-floor configuration, or a reverse stage.

Designed by architectural firm WorkAC and theatre consultants Auerbach Pollock Friedlander, the multi-form theatre will showcase interactive and classic productions, dance parties and other offerings. The venue will also host six original shows including a production by award-winning producer Randy Weiner.

The Beach Club at Bimini, which was designed by Miami-based architects EOA, will offer guests a Bahamian beach day, a lagoon-style pool, morning yoga meditation and musical performances ranging from acoustic guitar to DJ-led parties. Seven-time Grammy-award winner Mark Ronson will be among the first to play at the club, performing four times throughout 2020.

The island-style venue will also offer local dishes, hammock groves, numerous bars, beach loungers and private cabanas, as well as water and beach sports.

“At Virgin Voyages we are going beyond just great design, to defy and redefine luxury to be rebellious luxe,” said Tom McAlpin, president and CEO of Virgin Voyages. “This new luxury is about knowing you are taken care of, that you’re never being ‘nickel and dimed’, and that what you want, even some of the things you didn’t know you wanted, are already taken care of for you.”

Guests will even be able to join Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Voyages, as he celebrates his birthday on a four-night ‘Havana After Dark’ voyage departing on 15 July 2020 among celebrity friends.

“I’ve dreamed of starting my own cruise line since I was in my 20s, and now the launch is finally getting close,” said Branson. “We have taken the time to think about every detail and craft an experience that brings the Virgin brand to life and disrupts the travel industry.”
