Valenciaport in Spain hosted a maiden call from Royal Caribbean International’s Odyssey of the Seas on 23 October.

To commemorate the occasion, Valencia Port Authority’s head of marketing and cruises Francesca Antonelli presented the ship’s captain, Per Kristoffersen, with a traditional socarrat. The Valencian terracotta tile is designed with maritime motifs and is given to every cruise line that makes an inaugural visit to Valenciaport.

Odyssey of the Seas’ guests were able to participate in various activities while in Valencia, including city tours and excursions to the Albufera freshwater lagoon and estuary, the Oceanogràfic aquarium and the Lladró factory.

Other available shore excursion options in Valencia include hiking, bicycle and skateboarding tours, outdoor and sports activities, and gastronomic, cultural, wine, musical or historical experiences.
