German operator TUI Cruises is to order a new Mein Schiff cruise vessel from Finland-based shipbuilder Meyer Turku.

To be named Mein Schiff 7, the newbuild will be based on the design of the new Mein Schiff 1 and Mein Schiff 2, which will be delivered by Meyer Turku in spring 2018 and spring 2019, respectively. The vessel will be delivered in 2023.

“We are very thankful that TUI Cruises is entrusting us with building another ship to their fleet of modern and beautiful Mein Schiffs,” said Jan Meyer, CEO of Meyer Turku. “It will bring further good work to Turku shipyard, as well as the Finnish maritime cluster. This is what we are preparing for with our recruitments and investments.”

The agreement is still subject to financing.
