When Trimline was appointed as the main interior outfitter for the project, taking responsibility for revamping most of the public spaces including, Indigo, The Marketplace, Coffee Ports, Squid & Anchor, Broadway Bar, Latitude 53 and Vista.
Faced with a project that was equivalent to carrying out four refits, Trimline knew it had to plan logistics carefully. The company based a team at the shipyard in Cadiz, which comprised onboard and quayside logistics managers and around 300 tradespeople. Colleagues at the company’s UK headquarters also supported the project.
“The sheer scale of this project meant that meticulous planning was crucial,” says Ross Welham, chief operating officer at Trimline. “Each team was responsible for their key area of the refit and worked closely with their trades to ensure the refit was completed on time. I am so proud of what our team has achieved, the end result speaks for itself.”
Marella Explorer 2 hit the waves in April 2019 and has since been earning great feedback from passengers and crew alike.
“We are delighted with the results of this project,” said Nick Hughes, head of technical operations at Marella Cruises. “Trimline has a proven track record in delivering high spec interiors for us and has met the brief again with this mammoth refit. The transformation of the public spaces is remarkable.”
