Cruise software development company Sourcetoad has released its Cruise Mobile Apps 2020 Annual Report, revealing the trends, features and technology tools in passenger shipping.

The report presents research on guest-facing apps in the cruise industry, including their availability of apps across fleets, stand-out features and an overview of the key players in cruise app space.

The report was originally scheduled for release in late March but was delayed following the outbreak of Covid-19. Sourcetoad has now released a revised version of the report, predicting that a period of innovation will follow the pandemic. The company suggests that development is now likely to prioritise more health and safety features, contactless options and crowd control systems.

“The Covid-19 pandemic put publishing this report on hold, but we decided to share it now because it highlights how much innovation, creativity, and diversity there is in the industry,” said Greg Ross-Munro, CEO of Sourcetoad. “We want to share our research with the community to help other cruise lines and technologists as we all work toward keeping people safe and healthy in the years to come.”
