UK-based marine services provider SMS Group has established a new SMS Marine Interiors division, following significant year-on-year growth in interiors projects over the past five years.
Over the past five years, the group’s interiors business has accounted for a “significant proportion” of its overall sales, and will now operate as a separate division with its own branding, website and managing director. It will be based in Southampton, UK, and provide marine refurbishment and interior outfitting solutions for cruise ships.
SMS Marine Interiors will be managed by David McCarthy, who has previously worked in senior roles at Carnival UK, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and design agency AD Associates. He is also on the advisory board for Cruise Ship Interiors Design Expo.

The wider SMS Group will continue to deliver marine engineering services.
