Silversea Cruises’ Silver Whisper has embarked on the world’s first seven-continent world cruise, which will take guests to 62 destinations in 32 countries.

Silver Whisper departed on the ‘Legends of Cruising 2020’ sailing from Fort Lauderdale in Florida, US on 6 January, giving guests the chance to attend a bespoke ‘bon voyage’ event at The Breakers resort in Palm Beach on 5 January. Several Silversea executives joined the event, including president and CEO Roberto Martinoli.

“It was an honour to bid our guests bon voyage ahead of our world cruise 2020,” said . “The ‘Legends of Cruising’ is our most immersive world cruise to date, offering an unprecedented range of experiences. From Fort Lauderdale to Amsterdam, Antarctica to Aqaba, the variety of destinations discovered by our guests will showcase the authentic beauty of the world like never before. Our guests’ enthusiasm for the voyage has been reflected in the exceptionally strong booking numbers.”

Over the next 140 days, Silver Whisper’s guests will travel to the seven different continents before concluding their cruise in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 25 May.

Highlights of the cruise will include local shows, themed evenings, 33 new immersive shore excursions, new cocktail classes and menus, and lectures from guests such as British broadcast journalist Michael Buerk, author Bill Miller, South African politician Tony Leon and world affairs commentator Mark Elovitz. For the first time on a Silversea world cruise, guests will also be able to participate in zodiac tours led by expedition experts.

Silversea has planned two world cruises in 2021, including the industry’s first-ever expedition world cruise.
