For the first time, authorities across the cruise, hotel and aircraft cabin design sectors will be sharing their sustainable design knowledge at the Sustainable Design Summit.

Like all industries, the hospitality industry is under huge pressure to tackle the world’s most urgent challenge: the climate crisis. Sustainable Design Summit believes that cross-sector knowledge sharing is one of the most vital actions that anyone in the industry can take to make ambitious, but necessary, targets such as the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals a reality.

To do so, 17 speakers from every level of the cruise, hotel and aircraft interior design sectors will be speaking at the Sustainable Design Summit. Leaders such as Thomas Westergaard, vice president of Hurtigruten Expeditions, and Bryan Liska, director of design for Hilton Latin America & the Caribbean, will be discussing the reality of pitching to stakeholders and getting sustainability into decision-making. Those on the cutting edge of the most challenging aspects of hospitality design, such as Ben Orson, Flyzero cabin lead at Orson Associates, report the latest findings and practical advice in plenaries such as ‘Designed For Zero’.

While actionable and practical solutions are essential to creating cross-sector change, the Sustainable Design Summit places real emphasis on the heart of hospitality design: creating dynamic guest experience. Breakout sessions include ‘Colour, Material & Finish’, where delegates will hear from Ruth Greany, colours and materials design strategist at Substance; Adrian Berry, creative director at Factorydesign; My Nguyen, director of interior design at Holland America Group and more. In this breakout session and many others, delegates and speakers have the opportunity to discuss how sustainability can enhance brand identity through design.
