Seatrade Cruise Global reveals keynote panellists and themes
The State of the Global Cruise Industry panel will feature panelists from the world’s four biggest cruise lines

Seatrade Cruise Global, the world’s largest cruise industry event, has revealed its 2020 State of the Global Cruise Industry Keynote line-up, which will launch its opening session on 21 April 2020 at Miami Beach Convention Centre in Florida, US.

The State of the Global Cruise Industry panel will feature panelists from the world’s four largest cruise lines, including Frank Del Rio, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Holdings Ltd; Arnold Donald, president and CEO of Carnival Corporation; Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.; and Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of MSC Cruises. Moderated by BBC World News broadcast journalist Lucy Hockings, the discussion will focus on the future of cruising, touching on themes such as innovations on land and at sea, environmental improvements and new ship launches for 2020.

“Cruising continues to gain popularity for leisure travellers, with more than 30 million guests expected to sail this year,” said Hockings. “Our discussions will take a deeper dive into how the industry is reimagining ships and partnering with destinations to embrace these changes and evolve the cruise experience for years ahead.”

The second panel will be ‘The Future of Luxury Cruising’, which will bring together five leaders in luxury cruising. With the luxury cruise sector projected to double over the next decade, panelists will discuss the new advancements in the growing field and how to create distinct experiences that continue to attract discerning travellers.

Also included in the opening session will be ‘Overtourism Case Study: A Partnership Approach?’ panel discussion featuring Mato Francović, Mayor of Dubrovnik, Croatia, and Adam Goldstein, vice chairman of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and global chair of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA). They will join Seatrade Cruise News editor Anne Kalosh to explain how the city partnered with CLIA to tackle overtourism while establishing itself as a bellwether for partnerships between destinations and cruise lines.

“Our keynote opening session sets the tone for Seatrade Cruise Global 2020, welcoming attendees with a multifaceted dialogue reflective of our educational programming,” said Chiara Giorgi, global brand and event director for Seatrade Cruise. “As a marquee start of the conference, the State of the Global Cruise Industry panel will highlight the latest and greatest advancements and forward-thinking in the world of cruising.”
