Sea Cloud Cruises’ new three-masted, full-rigged cruise ship Sea Cloud Spirit has been officially named in a christening ceremony at the cruise terminal in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

Gabriela Toran, the wife of the ship’s designer Iñigo Echenique, took over as godmother of the ship from the originally planned godmother Infanta Elena of Spain. The champagne bottle used for the christening was blessed on a pilgrimage of almost 120 kilometres by Sea Cloud Cruises’ legal representative Javier Arias-Camisón, who completed the journey on foot.

Sea Cloud Spirit is a modern interpretation of the cruise line’s 90-year-old flagship, Sea Cloud. The 138-metre-long ship can accommodate up to 136 guests, and features balcony cabins, a wellness area and a fitness centre.

The new ship will embark on her maiden voyage from Rome on 14 September 2021. She will sail cruises along the Italian coast between Tuscany and Sicily, before moving to the Canary Islands from November 2021 to April 2022.
