Scoot Ferries launched its new passenger ferry service between Cowes on the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth, UK on 5 November.

Operating year-round, foot passenger services onboard the line’s 41-passenger, high-speed catamarans will start at 4:45am from Trinity Landing in Cowes to the Millennium Pontoon on The Town Camber at Portsmouth International Port. Lasting less than 35 minutes, the crossings have been scheduled to ensure that commuters can catch trains departing from Portsmouth to London and Gatwick airport.

Scoot also provides a free shuttle bus connection from the Town Camber to The Hard Bus and Rail Interchange in Portsmouth.

“Due to the transport connections that Scoot Ferries has introduced on this new Cowes to Portsmouth route, it is now even easier to travel to and from the island without a car,” said Zoë Stroud, LSTF Visitor project manager at Visit Isle of Wight. “The company also encourages cycling, with bicycles carried free of charge onboard its vessels, which is great news for our ‘Drive less, see more’ initiative. This is a very exciting time for sustainability on both sides of the Solent.” Scoot originally planned to open the new ferry services within the next two years, but moved the date forward following ‘overwhelming’ public demand.

“We launched Scoot with the aim being to open up business and leisure opportunities for Island residents in particular,” said Zoë Ombler, CEO of Scoot Ferries. “It is due to the continued support and backing of everyone on both sides of the Solent, together with the endless hard work from the whole of the Scoot Team, that this new service has been brought to fruition. I am grateful to all involved for allowing us to deliver a service that will really benefit the island.”

Scoot also operates a ferry service between Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight and Lymington in Hampshire.
