Swedish technology firm Surikat is to automate Scandlines’ terminal operations across its two ferry routes between Germany and Denmark with its ‘smart port’ solution.

Scandlines will deploy Surikat’s Lynx software-as-a-service solutions at its ports in Puttgarden, Germany, and Rødby, Denmark. The solutions will automate gate processes, self-service sales, passenger check-ins, yard planning, lane management and loading.

“This project is a key step and cornerstone in Scandlines’ strategy to continue to be the preferred choice of travel for both customers going on holiday, wanting to shop in our BorderShop, and our freight operators travelling to and from Scandinavia and Continental Europe,” said Michael Guldmann Petersen, chief operating officer at Scandlines.

The smart port solution aims to enhance the customer experience.

“We are very pleased that Scandlines has chosen Surikat and Lynx to help make the Scandlines ports the ‘ports of the future’,” said Andreas Karlsson, CEO at Surikat. “We are looking forward to sharing our accumulated knowledge as we implement our Lynx system, the most advanced smart port solution on the market, and we look forward to a long and productive business relationship with Scandlines.”
