Luxury ocean cruise line Regent Seven Seas Cruises has named Sarah Fabergé, great-granddaughter of late Russian jeweller Peter Carl Fabergé, as godmother to its new ship, Seven Seas Grandeur.

Fabergé will christen the ship (currently under construction at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy) at a gala in Miami, Florida, on 10 December 2023, before it embarks on a three-night christening cruise to the Caribbean. Seven Seas Grandeur will homeport in Miami for its maiden Caribbean season.

“As a founding member of the Fabergé Heritage Council, Sarah symbolises the shared ethos and distinctive qualities that define our two eminent luxury brands and is therefore the ideal godmother of our newest ship,” said Andrea DeMarco, president of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “We are deeply honoured to name Sarah Fabergé as godmother, and I am delighted to welcome her to the Regent Seven Seas Cruises family.”

According to Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Seven Seas Grandeur will provide one of the highest space and staff-to-guest ratios in the industry with only 746 guests onboard. The ship features interiors designed by Studio DADO and an array of suites in 15 accommodation categories. The ship will also be home to a multimillion-dollar art collection, featuring a commissioned one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted objet d'art known as Journey in Jewels, the first-ever Fabergé egg to be permanently exhibited at sea.

“Seven Seas Grandeur has been inspired by the past and stunningly reimagined for the future, exemplifying our heritage of perfection with unrivalled space, unparalleled service, epicurean perfection, and transformative experiences that begin the moment guests step aboard,” said DeMarco. “Fabergé’s storied legacy of unwavering perfection, unparalleled craftsmanship, and relentless pursuit of excellence aligns harmoniously with the core values of our own distinguished luxury brand.”

At Seven Seas Grandeur’s christening gala, Fabergé will wear bespoke 18-carat white gold earrings and a ring specifically designed for the event. The jewellery, which features blue guilloché enamel, white diamonds and pearls, will be auctioned in 2024 to raise money for Gemfields Foundation. The event will also feature entertainment from Emmy and Tony award-winning American actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth.

From 1 July 2024, Fabergé will host a 10-night ‘Fabergé Spotlight Voyage’ onboard Seven Seas Grandeur, which will depart from Rome, Italy. Guests will have exclusive access to masterclass programmes, shoreside tours and a programme of lectures and screenings while onboard.

“Today’s Fabergé looks to the ingenuity of my great-grandfather, Peter Carl Fabergé, and his constant pursuit of excellence,” said Fabergé. “I am honoured to be godmother to this extraordinary new ship which, like Fabergé, has been inspired by the past and reimagined for the future, and I also look forward to hosting Regent guests onboard Seven Seas Grandeur for my exclusive Spotlight Voyage in 2024.”
