Luxury cruise line Regent Seven Seas Cruises has celebrated the keel laying for its newest ship, Seven Seas Grandeur, ahead of its 2023 debut.

The first of the vessel’s building blocks was placed in the dry dock during a ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy, which was attended by executives by Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Fincantieri.

Three custom-minted coins were placed by Jason Montague, president and CEO of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and Gilberto Tobaldi, director of the Ancona shipyard, onto the keel of the ship, each of which represented each ship in the class – Seven Seas Explorer, Seven Seas Splendor and Seven Seas Grandeur. The coins for Seven Seas Explorer and Seven Seas Splendor are replicas of those that were placed on their own keels, while the new coin for Seven Seas Grandeur includes the cruise line’s 30th anniversary logo.

“Since their respective debuts in 2016 and 2020, Seven Seas Explorer and Seven Seas Splendor have delighted discerning luxury travellers from across the world, earning a reputation as the most luxurious ships ever built,” said Montague. “Now their sister, Seven Seas Grandeur, builds upon Regent’s rich three decade-long history. Inspired by our heritage, this will be a ship that harmonises elegance, comfort, freedom and choice, providing An Unrivalled Experience, and will continue to delight our guests for years to come.”

Seven Seas Grandeur will have capacity for 732 guests in 15 suite categories. The ship’s interiors were created by design firm Studio DADO and will include new looks for the Observation Lounge and speciality restaurant, Compass Rose.

The ship will begin its inaugural season in November 2023, sailing 17 voyages in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean and two transatlantic crossings, ranging from 7 to 16 nights in length.
