Isle of Wight ferry operator Red Funnel has partnered with technology provider WRS to introduce new electronic point-of-sale systems in all of its onboard ReFuel cafes.
The digital system has replaced cash registers and manages retail transactions, inventory and customer data. Its introduction is intended to improve transaction speed and streamline service.
“WRS is proud to be the trusted POS provider for Red Funnel, which provides one of the key gateways to and from the Isle of Wight,” said Jamie White, head of business development at WRS. “We are excited to be providing seamless and efficient solutions to support and enhance the ferry company’s operations. Well done to everyone involved in the project!”
WRS is based in the town of Newport on the Isle of Wight and is one of a number of local suppliers used by Red Funnel. Other local products from The Island Tea & Coffee Co. and Island Foods can also be found in the ReFuel cafes. The ferry operator plans to expand its range of locally sourced products in the cafes, as well as broadening options to cater for different dietary preferences and exploring sustainability initiatives such as reducing single-use plastics.
“We’re delighted to be working with WRS to improve service in our ReFuel cafés,” said Fran Collins, CEO of Red Funnel. “The new payment systems are increasing the speed and efficiency of service, helping us deliver a quicker, more seamless experience for every customer. We are continuously exploring new ways to partner with Island businesses and support the local economy, and our latest collaboration with WRS strengthens our community ties whilst enhancing our service across the Solent.”
