US-based Princess Cruises has unveiled the details of a new production Rock Opera, which will debut onboard Sky Princess in December and Enchanted Princess in June 2020.

The multi-lingual musical will feature avant-garde inspired costumes and a soundtrack of classic rock, musical theatre and opera performed in English, Spanish, Latin and sign language.

“Rock Opera takes our guests on a musical journey, featuring our eight-piece live orchestra playing iconic rock songs,” said Denise Saviss, vice president of the entertainment experience at Princess Cruises. “Our production and costume design team were inspired by one of New York City’s most glamorous evenings of the year, the Met Gala. Sky Princess and Enchanted Princess guests should anticipate an unforgettable evening of music that transcends language and celebrates the diversity of our crew and guests from around the world.”

The show will open on 3,660-guest Sky Princess during her inaugural Caribbean season and will feature former America’s Got Talent’s contestant and singer Justin Crum.

The creative team includes director and choreographer Danny Teeson, who has previously choreographed for Robbie Williams and Tom Jones; musical arranger Nelson Kole who has worked with Frank Sinatra and Beyoncé; Emmy Award-winning scenic designer John Lacovelli; and costume designer Jackson Lowell, who has designed for Elton John, Jennifer Aniston and Cate Blanchett.
