Princess Cruises’ newest ship, scheduled to launch on 3 November 2021, will be named Discovery Princess. The vessel is scheduled to be the third purpose-built MedallionClass ship to join Princess Cruises’ fleet and will be constructed at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.

Guests sailing on Discovery Princess will be able to make use of Princess Cruises’ personalised Ocean Medallion wearable device. The medallion can be worn or carried to give guests access to transaction-free payments, touchless entry into their staterooms, personalised dining experiences and expedited embarkation, and many other features.

Discovery Princess’s inaugural voyage will be a seven-day Mediterranean and Aegean cruise from Rome, Italy to Athens, Greece, followed by a seven-day Athens to Barcelona, Spain voyage. After a short season in the Mediterranean, the ship will head to Fort Lauderdale in Florida, US for a series of roundtrip cruises to the Caribbean.

“Discovery Princess will take our guests on the most memorable holidays of their lifetime, introducing them to new sights, new cultures and new experiences on every voyage,” said Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises. “Discovery is both an expression of our brand as well as an important aspect of our guest experience. We know Discovery Princess will offer our guests cruise holidays that create memories they will cherish for a lifetime.”

Discovery Princess will be followed by two new ships powered by LNG in late 2023 and spring 2025, bringing Princess Cruises’ new ship order number to five in six years.
