Sweden’s Ports of Stockholm is to welcome a record 650,000 passengers during 287 cruise calls in 2019, up from 623,000 guests during 268 ship visits in 2018.

Quark Expeditions’ Ocean Nova kicked off the 2019 season, making her maiden call in Stockholm on 22 April, where her captain was presented with a commemorative plaque by representatives from the port. Four other ships visited in the first week of the season, including AIDAdiva, which made the first of the AIDA Cruises’ 56 planned calls in 2019.

Highlights of the season will include 11 additional inaugural visits from Viking Cruises’ Viking Jupiter, AIDAprima, Holland America Line’s Nieuw Statendam, Marella Cruises’ Marella Explorer, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Pearl, Royal Caribbean International’s Explorer of the Seas, Quark Expeditions’ World Explorer, Noble Caledonia’s Hebridean Sky, Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ Vasco da Gama, Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Reflection and Saga Cruises’ Spirit of Discovery. The season will close in October.

“The start of the cruise season is one of my favourite signs that spring is here,” said Stefan Scheja, Cruise and Ferry manager at Ports of Stockholm. “It will be great to welcome both returning regular customers and a good deal of newcomers to Stockholm during the season.”
