Port of Tallinn, the biggest port authority in Estonia, opened its new multifunctional cruise terminal in Tallinn on 15 July 2021.

Designed by Salto Architects, the sustainable terminal will make Tallinn more accessible to cruise passengers, reduce the port’s negative impact on the environment and operate outside of the cruise season for other vessels.

The facility can be used to host events, such as concerts and conferences, and accommodates up to 2,000 people. It also features an 850-metre promenade that will connect passengers to leisure areas, which include tiered outdoor seating that looks over the ocean.

The terminal’s exterior and decking area features natural wood, produced by Kebony, to complement its structural design and surroundings. The wood will require little to no maintenance and develop a unique silver-grey patina.

“We are delighted that Kebony was chosen for the exterior cladding and decking of this flagship cruise terminal in Estonia, and hope it can be used to inspire the development of many more sustainable projects for the cruise-ship industry worldwide,” said Nina Landbø, international sales manager at Kebony.
