Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Infinity opened the Port of San Diego’s 2015-2016 cruise season on 9 September.

The 2,170-passenger vessel called at the US cruise port as part of a nine-night Pacific coastal roundtrip from San Francisco, which also visited Monterey, Santa Barbara and Catalina in California, and Ensenada in Mexico.

This season, which ends in May 2016, San Diego is scheduled to receive 65 vessels. In October, Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wonder will sail four Baja roundtrips, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Sun will offer three 11-day Mexican Riviera cruises and Holland America Lines’ Zaandam will provide an 18-day Inca Discovery voyage. Celebrity Cruises will also homeport ships in San Diego this season.

On average, each homeported cruise is expected to generate US$2 million for the region, which will come from passengers spending, businesses servicing the vessel, transportation services, crew spending and more.
