The Port of Riga in Latvia is expecting to receive a record number of calls from cruise lines in 2022, exceeding the average annual amount by over 30 per cent.

The Freeport of Riga Authority and its partners are working with operators to reschedule their current itineraries and plan calls at its three terminals.

“This year's cruise ship schedule clearly indicates a positive recovery of the cruise industry,” said Viesturs Zeps, chairman of the Freeport of Riga Authority. “At the same time, it is the result of relentless work of the Freeport of Riga Authority and its partners, who have been working systematically with international industry associations, cruise companies and ship agents throughout the pandemic with the aim to highlight Riga's benefits and excellence on the cruise route map.”

The Freeport of Riga Authority has developed a management plan, based on the European Union’s guidance for cruise ship operations, to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
