Port Everglades in Florida, US has broken its own world record for handling the most cruise passengers at a port in a single day.

A total of 55,964 passengers arrived and departed the port on 1 December 2019, exceeding the previous record by 79 people.

“We knew it would be close because it was a busy weekend,” said Glenn Wiltshire, acting chief executive and port director of Port Everglades. “This is a nice gift for the holidays.”

Ships that contributed to the record-breaking day include Royal Caribbean International’s Adventure of the Seas and Allure of the Seas; Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Magic; Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Edge; Holland America Line’s Eurodam and Nieuw Statendam; Princess Cruises’ Regal Princess and Sky Princess, and Balearia Caribbean’s daily ferry Jaume II.
