Oceania Cruises is to offer 10 new Cuba cruises onboard the 684-guest Sirena in 2018.
Sailing roundtrip from Miami’s port, the itineraries range in length from seven to ten days in length and will call at Havana, Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba.
While in Havana, passengers can visit colonial Old Havana, the Malecón, Capitolio Nacional, the Cuban art collection at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, old cigar factories and Viñales Valley, which is famous for its tobacco and limestone formations. They can also get a behind-the-scenes look at artisanal cigar-rolling methods at a local workshop, or spend the evening listening to Cuban music at a well-known club.
In the UNESCO World Heritage site of Cienfuegos, passengers will be able to visit Palacio de Valle, Punta Gorda, an open-air museum of Spanish colonial architecture named Plaza Mayor, and the nearby colonial town of Trinidad.
Santiago de Cuba offers the Castillo de San Pedro de la Roca and the Cementerio Santa Ifigenia, where Cuban hero José Martí and Emilio Bacardí Moreau of the famed rum dynasty are both buried.
Guests will also be able to sample authentic Cuban dishes, play dominoes and enjoy lectures on Cuban history, art and music while onboard the 684-guest Sirena.
“I recently had the pleasure of sailing on Marina’s first voyage to Cuba and the best way to get an insider’s view of Cuba is to be immersed in the culture and everyday lives of the people – meaningful cultural insights that invite you to experience the real Cuba,” said Bob Binder, president and CEO of Oceania Cruises. “You can enjoy exactly that on these new voyages, all of which offer calls in Havana, Santiago de Cuba, and Cienfuegos.”
Oceania Cruises will also offer six Cuba journeys onboard Insignia in autumn 2017, and calls to Havana on four Regatta sailings in spring and autumn 2018. In total, the line will offer 20 Cuba voyages on three ships between autumn 2017 and autumn 2018.
