Swedish technology company Nowhere Networks and Italian Wi-Fi solutions provider Seafy have launched a large-scale deployment strengthen onboard connectivity across ten of Corsica Ferries’ ships.

Seafy is providing customers with end-to-end services, including internet access, portal and user experience, while Nowhere Networks delivers the underlying land-based network. This network is used wherever possible and is supported by satellite technology to ensure full route coverage.

“Combining Nowhere Networks’ land-based infrastructure with complementary technologies creates a solution with high capacity, low latency and strong redundancy,” said Roberto Verni, managing director of Seafy. “This brings clear advantages for both us and our customers.”

Nowhere Networks is adding approximately 15 new sites across regions including France, Italy, Corsica, Sardinia and Mallorca and Menorca in Spain. The company’s ownership and operation of its own network allow it to offer its customers control over performance, capacity and cost of its connectivity.

“This project clearly shows where the market is heading,” said Asbjörn Frydenlund, CEO of Nowhere Networks. “It’s not just about combining technologies – it’s about controlling the full delivery. By owning and operating our own network as the foundation, and integrating other technologies where needed, we can deliver superior performance at a significantly lower cost – regardless of where the vessel operates".

Corsica Linea’s is helping to enable this expansion with access to key Mediterranean ports.

“Connectivity is becoming a critical part of both the passenger experience and operational efficiency,” said Pierre Mattei, CEO of Corsica Linea. “This solution gives us the right foundations for the future.”
