Norwegian Cruise Line has completed a renovation project updating several spaces onboard Norwegian Joy, after the ship underwent a three-week dry dock in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The updates include the addition of a new Thermal Suite at the Mandara Spa and Salon, which is now the largest within the Breakaway-Plus class ships. The suite features a more centralised layout, and guests will arrive to an entrance corridor featuring sculptures and encompassed with waterfalls. A separate lounge area will feature three times as many hot tile loungers than in the previous layout. The Thermal Suite replaces the Galaxy Pavilion, Norwegian Joy’s virtual reality complex.

Other additions to the spa include a new Biostation with IV Drip Therapy; Four Senses loungers; and Kneipp haptic foot therapy, which massages feet as guests walk across the pebbled moving stream that alternates between hot and cold foot baths.

Norwegian Joy’s The Haven by Norwegian Premier Owner’s Suites with a Large Balcony have been expanded to three-bedrooms, with three and a half bathrooms; a renovated living room, master bedroom and outdoor balcony furniture; and a new separate dining room overlooking the forward-facing The Haven Horizon Lounge.

The adults-only Vibe Beach Club has also undergone an expansion, taking over the space previously occupied by the Laser Tag arena on deck 20. The venue now features a similar layout to the venues on Norwegian Encore and Norwegian Bliss, with new private cabanas.

Finally, 24 new balcony staterooms have been added by repurposing a portion of the Observation Lounge.

“Our guests have asked for these enhancements to Norwegian Joy, and we delivered,” said David Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “We strive to evolve the onboard experience based on our guests’ wants and needs, and this is another example of how we put them first in our decision-making. From an expanded spa to additional spacious accommodations, with these new updates, we have given our guests more space to relax, unplug and enjoy their time on board with their loved ones.”

Norwegian Joy is currently offering seven-day, round-trip Caribbean voyages from Miami, before repositioning to New York in summer 2024 to sail cruises to Bermuda.
