The passenger shipping industry is constantly faced with the need to innovate as companies strive to attract guests, comply with regulation and keep up with the competition. This year has seen the industry continue to embrace this challenge, as it has introduced new ships, technologies and experiences that are driving passenger shipping into the future.

Expedition Cruise Network

The spirit of innovation is clear in our keynote interview with TUI Cruises’ Wybcke Meier, as she discusses the brand’s new InTUItion ships,  “Our aim was to improve everything from the layout to the onboard facilities and guest experiences,” she says, as she detailed the innovations onboard the new vessels, as well as explaining why new fuels will accelerate decarbonisation and discussing the role of the cruise sector in Europe.

In our expedition cruising supplement, Akvile Marozaite of the Expedition Cruise Network also highlights the importance of sustainability in the sector, highlighting the efforts being made by both large and small expedition operators, as well as explaining the sector’s rapid growth over recent years.

Grimaldi

Our ferry business section, published in association with Interferry, features interviews from leaders across the sector, including Emanuele Grimaldi of Grimaldi Group. He discusses the Neapolitan group’s $1.3 billion investment in nine methanol multi-fuel ro-pax ferries for its Grimaldi Lines, Finnlines and Minoan Lines subsidiaries.

Other notable highlights include a Cruise Business section, which features interviews with leaders of brands such as Aroya Cruises, Windstar Cruises and Scenic group on their latest strategies and innovations. The section also features an interview with Cruise Lines International Association president and CEO, Bud Darr, who explores the findings of CLIA’s 2025 State of the Cruise Industry Report.

Windstar

Meanwhile, in our ‘Decarbonisation by design’ feature, CFR finds out more from leading naval architects at KNUD E. HANSEN and Deltamarin about the technologies that could help shipowners in their efforts to decarbonise and comply with increasingly strict regulations.

Plus, there are features, interviews, commentaries and reports exploring the global order books, ship refurbishments, safety at sea, interior design, sustainable itineraries, and more. We also profile selected companies in the Featured Partners section.
