New issue of Cruise & Ferry Interiors out now!

By Alex Smith |

The 2020 issue of Cruise & Ferry Interiors is out now and available free of charge in digital format. Visit the magazine page to read the magazine online, or to download copies to your device.

Over the past few months, the cruise ship interiors industry has been significantly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, but it has been wonderful to see the extraordinary resilience and determination that has been shown during the crisis. We hope our readers are inspired by the designers, outfitters, suppliers and many other stakeholders who have shared their insights in the pages of Cruise & Ferry Interiors.

The cover design for the 2020 issue Cruise & Ferry Interiors was designed by design agency Volume Creative, which discusses its sustainable approach to design in our cover story. Meanwhile, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.’s Sacha Lang and Paris Swann share how collaboration helps to create innovative ships in our keynote interview.

Other highlights include a conversation on how interior design enriches the physical and emotional welfare of guests with the executive team of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers. Meanwhile, features, viewpoints and reports explore everything from the seven building blocks of design, to the post-pandemic cruise experience, the principles of design psychology and the materials that can help create high-quality interiors. In interior views, cruise line executives reflect on the design process for their newest ships, including Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras and Dream Cruises’ Global Dream.

Interviews with Sunstone Ships’ Niels Erik-Lund and designer Tomas Tillberg explore how the expedition cruise sector is changing, while we ask Dee Cooper about the interiors onboard Virgin Voyages’ highly anticipated first cruise ship. Marco De Jorio of De Jorio Design International offers his insight into creating long-lasting designs, and Steve Newberry from DFDS explains how the ferry operator uses passenger feedback to create its new designs.

Elsewhere, the CFI Curated section highlights some of the latest updates from across the cruise ship interiors industry, and our Design Legend interview sees GEM founder Giacomo Mortola provide insight into how design practices in the industry have evolved since his first project in 1974.

We hope you enjoy the magazine and welcome your feedback.
