Lynn Narraway, managing director of UK Business for Holland America Line and Seabourn Cruises, has been appointed as the new chair of CLIA UK & Ireland.

Narraway’s appointment was revealed during CLIA’s Annual Dinner onboard Fred. Olsen Cruise Line’s Black Watch on 17 December.

Her appointment comes at a time of sustained growth in the cruise industry. In 2015, seven new ocean ships and more than 25 river vessels launched in 2015, together with new itineraries and ports of call.

“I am delighted to become chair at such an exciting time for cruise members,” said Narraway. “The membership of CLIA UK & Ireland continues to grow and we now have 52 different cruise line members. With such a great choice, we know that once onboard, holidaymakers will have a fantastic time so I look forward to building on the great work already undertaken in promoting cruise holidays and continuing to see the industry grow.”

Narraway will replace Jo Rzymowska, managing director of Celebrity Cruises, UK & Ireland, who has chaired CLIA UK & Ireland for the past four years.

“I have had four phenomenal years as chair and I hand over to Lynn confident that the organisation will go on to deliver more great things,” said Rzymowska. “The cruise industry has worked together over recent years to focus on delivering greater trade, consumer and media engagement and this has delivered significant benefits including sector growth. The support agents enjoy has also been enhanced and I’m proud to hand over the reins at a time when CLIA is truly going from strength to strength.”
