Celebrity Cruises’ newest vessel Celebrity Ascent was floated out at Chantiers de l’Atlantique’s shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, on 22 January.

Celebrity Ascent, which is the fourth in the Edge Series, will feature 17 decks and offer more space and onboard experiences than its predecessors. It will also feature the Magic Carpet deck that provides unobstructed views of the sea, infinity-edge plunge pools, two-storey Martini-shaped hot tubs, and 30 onboard food and drink venues.

“So much more than a ship, Celebrity Ascent will be the embodiment of a relaxed luxury resort at sea, and I can’t imagine a more exciting way to start the new year than by celebrating this important construction milestone,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises. “The collaboration between the shipyard and Celebrity teams continues to be extraordinary and I am grateful to all involved for their passion and expertise. Momentum and anticipation is quickly building for this ship and we’ll continue to share her progress and all that awaits our guests onboard this next installation in our ground breaking, next-generation Edge Series.”

The vessel will be completed in time for its debut on 3 December 2023 at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
