MSC Cruises is to upgrade guest facilities on its private island Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in The Bahamas.

From 2027 guests can experience four new dining venues, Seakers Cove family beach, and the adults-only Paradise Sands beach. The island’s pier will also be extended to enable it to accommodate two cruise ships docking simultaneously.

The addition of four new dining venues – a mix of buffets and food markets – will give guests a choice of seven locations, including a signature speciality restaurant.

Seakers Cove will be turned into a dedicated family area offering guests an array of new attractions, including a splashpad, a ping-pong and foosball table, a playground and a ropes course with water elements.

Paradise Sands will be turned into an adults-only beach, while more cabanas will be available to rent across the island.

Ocean Cay, which was once an industrial site for mining white oolitic aragonite sand, is home to the MSC Foundation’s Marine Conservation Center, which will soon feature a new ‘Shifting Perspective’ Experience. This will explore marine conservation through immersive, hands-on experiences focused on coral restoration, scientific discovery, exploring ocean ecosystems and more.

MSC Cruises is also continuing to develop a second private island, Little Cay. The island is located adjacent to Ocean Cay and has been created from dredged material which was added to an existing sandbank during works to widen the channel and turning basin to accommodate the cruise line’s World-class ships.
