MSC Cruises has expanded the onboard wellness facilities on MSC Poesia following a refurbishment programme completed during dry dock, ahead of the vessel’s inaugural Alaska season.
The upgrades include a redesigned MSC Aurea Spa and an expanded MSC Gym by Technogym, alongside new treatments and services adapted for operations in colder climates. The changes are intended to align the onboard offering with the requirements of Alaska itineraries.
The MSC Aurea Spa has been updated with redesigned treatment rooms and a reconfigured thermal area. The space has been adapted to provide a contemporary setting, with ocean views incorporated into relaxation areas. The thermal facilities are positioned to contrast with external conditions, allowing guests to use heated environments while viewing Alaska’s landscapes.
Onboard wellness treatments have been adjusted to reflect the operating environment, with the introduction of cold-climate therapies, including massage treatments aimed at reducing muscle tension and supporting recovery in lower temperatures. Post-excursion recovery experiences have also been introduced, providing options for guests returning from outdoor activities such as glacier visits, wildlife excursions and other shore-based programmes.
“We have taken a thoughtful approach to enhancing MSC Poesia, ensuring the onboard experience matches Alaska’s bold and inspiring character and surpasses our guests’ expectations,” said Lynn Torrent, president of MSC Cruises North America. “The refreshed spa and wellness areas offer new spaces to relax, recharge and warm up after a day of exploring Alaska’s legendary landscapes, delivering the perfect mix of European style and American comfort, along with the comfort and quality MSC Cruises is known for.”
The MSC Gym by Technogym has been relocated and expanded, with updated equipment and a revised layout to increase capacity and flexibility. The facility includes dedicated studios for group fitness classes and a separate cycling studio. Additional services include personalised wellness consultations, incorporating Footbalance and InBody assessments.
Retail within the spa has also been revised to reflect the destination, with a focus on products suited to colder climates, including warming creams, oils and hydrating treatments intended to support skin exposed to low temperatures.
MSC Poesia is scheduled to operate seven-night Alaska itineraries from Seattle between May and September 2026, calling at destinations across the region.
