Mindelo Cruise Port has officially opened in the city of Mindelo on the island of São Vicente, as an inauguration ceremony was held to mark the milestone in Capo Verdean cruising.

Dr Ulisses Correia e Silva, the prime minister of Cape Verde, presided over ceremony. In attendance was Carmen Hagenaars, the ambassador of the Netherlands to Cape Verde and Myriam Ferran, the deputy director general for international partnerships of the European Union, along with members of the government, local authorities, diplomatic corps and representatives of civil society.

In January, ENAPOR, the Cape Verdean port authority, partnered with cruise port operator Global Ports Holding to support the development and efficient operation of the new terminal. The collaboration aims to improve service standards and position Cape Verde as a destination for international cruises.
