Maritime Communications Partner (MCP) has signed a long-term contract to provide advanced mobile cellular communication services to 33 cruise ships in the Carnival Corporation & plc fleet.

Covering six or the company’s nine cruise brands, the multi-year contract will provide almost 130,000 people with mobile, voice, SMS and internet data coverage while at sea each day.

“Technologies and services like this showcase how Carnival Corporation is leveraging its scale to drive strategic advantages,” said Ramon Millan, CIO of Carnival Corporation. “The size of our company enables opportunities like this one, in which we can optimise services and technologies to enhance guest experience.”

MCP will be the exclusive onboard cellular provider for 12 AIDA Cruises ships, five from Costa Cruises, three from Cunard Line, two from Princess Cruises, three from P&O Cruises (Australia) and eight from P&O Cruises (UK).

It is rewarding to be able to supply Carnival Corporation’s ships with solutions that empower crew and passengers with services that enrich their lives,” said Frode Støldal, CEO of MCP. “We are excited about deploying new kinds of communication solutions with internet services that build a new digital future for all people travelling and working at sea. We believe that mobile internet is a catalyst for growth and that it should be accessible for everyone and everywhere.
