Plans for the renovation, which will run through to July 2014, include a wider variety of dining and entertainment options, as well as introducing enhancements such as iPod docking stations and access to onboard wifi.

“The Royal Advantage revitalisations take many of the best features that we have created in recent years and introduces them across our fleet, offering our guests enhanced vacation choices around the world,” said Adam Goldstein, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International.

The renovation, which began in May 2011 with Radiance of the Seas will be followed by Splendour of the Seas in November. Other vessels which are scheduled to undergo extensive transformations include Vision and Radiance class ships such as Rhapsody, Grandeur and Serenade of the Seas. Each ship will enter dry dock for approximately one month in order to complete the developments.

Caribbean’s senior vice president of hotel operations, Lisa Bauer said: “From new dining concepts to cutting-edge entertainment, we are raising the bar across the fleet to offer guests our signature Gold Anchor Service and the world’s most innovative cruise ships that sail to exciting destinations worldwide.” Onboard passengers will find that the ship’s alterations include extensive modifications to the cruise’s itineraries. With deployments recently announced to be made in 2012 and 2013, vacationers will be offered the opportunity to travel to the western Mediterranean, Greece and Turkey for seven and ten night trips departing from Palma de Mallorca, Spain and Venice. Furthermore, in summer 2012 Rhapsody and Radiance of the Seas will be offering tours to Alaska as well as cruises to Australia and New Zealand in the winter. After Splendour’s refurbishment in November it will hope to offer three and four night cruises to Brazil as well as seven and eight night trips to Argentina and Uruguay departing from Sao Paulo. Other amenities that will feature on the new vessels include a digital way-finding system, outdoor LED video walls, an interactive nursery and new staterooms.

Additionally, the latest dining options will be offered from pan-Asian cuisine to a boardwalk ‘Doghouse’, specialising in wieners and bratwurst. Further revitalisations will also take place on various other Vision, Voyager and Radiance class ships through 2013 and 2014 with even minor enhancements being made to Freedom-class vessel Independence of the Seas.

In early 2011, Oasis of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas received popular enhancements and programmes that were introduced aboard the newly launched Allure of the Seas, such as the DreamWorks Experience. Having previously undergone extensive revitalisations in recent years, both Sovereign class Majesty of the Seas and Monarch of the Seas are currently delivering the Royal Advantage to guests on short Bahamas cruises from Miami and Port Canaveral.
